PhD Student
Master in Conservation Biology, 2012

I’m currently enrolled in the EARTHSYSTEMS Lisbon Doctoral School. My project focuses on studying fin whale ecology and acoustics in the South of Portugal and the Azores, using data collected by ocean-bottom seismometers. The results will contribute to the optimization and use of seismic data to monitor large cetaceans and to the understanding of fin whale population identity and connectivity in the Atlantic Ocean.
PhD project: Investigation of fin whales using ocean bottom recordings
Supervisors: Professor Luis Matias (IDL), Dr. Len Thomas and Dr. Peter Tyack (University of St. Andrews).

Scientific interests: Acoustics, cetacean ecology and conservation
