In March 2017, approximately 200 students of Colégio Sagrado Coração de Maria – Lisboa experienced the seismic table of IDL/FCUL, which simulates the occurence of earthquakes.

The European Researchers Night is celebrated all around Europe. IDL researchers participated with different outreach activities (oceanography, energy and seismology) in the National Museum of Natural History and Science and in Pavilhão do Conhecimento.
The goal of these activities was to show to the public that the Planet Earth is a dynamic system (through earthquake and tsunami related activities) and the importance of renewable energies, in particular solar energy, in the preservation of the Planet.
The activities took place in Parque Urbano de Albarquel in Setúbal.
